How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Asking around, I have been so shocked to find that quite a few people don't realise the importance of washing your makeup brushes! Not only do they look a million times better when they're clean but it also stops the build up of bacteria which can lead to break outs on your face. Depending on the number of brushes you own, it can be a time consuming process but so worth it (especially for the satisfying feeling you get when it's all done!). So today I'm going to tell you what I use and how I get my brushes all clean.

I've tried a few different things to clean my makeup brushes but nothing compares to what I've settled on now. If you're unaware of the Daiso craze, you need to find your closest store and go check it out. It's basically a Japanese store that sells a bunch of random stuff for $2.80. I'd heard Crystal Conte absolutely rave about their Puff and Sponge Detergent so of course I had to try it out for myself. I now stock up on these bottles as they're so ridiculously good at giving my brushes a thorough clean.

So the actual process is super simple. All you need to do is grab all your brushes and your Daiso brush cleaner, pop yourself in front of a sink and you're good to go. I soak the brush first in running water then pour some cleaner into my hand and get washing. I just swirl the brush around my fingers and palm and then do the same under the running tap. I repeat this until the water is running completely clear and then I use a towel to get rid of the excess water in the brush. I then just lay it flat on a towel or flat surface and repeat with the rest of my brushes.

The only other tip I can give is to not sit your brushes up with the bristles up top until they're completely dry as water can get to the base of the bristles and cause them to fall out. And there you have it! Clean brushes all round.

It's recommended to deep clean your brushes about once a month. I like to wash the brushes that I use for liquid and cream products more often though.

Do you wash your brushes regularly? What do you use?
