Mascara: 3-6 months
This product is the big one to look out for. As soon as it starts to dry up or smell off, you'll need to throw it out and open a new one. Expired mascara can lead to serious eye infections or wounds on the eyelid. Never share mascara with friends either. So always look out for any signs of it being expired.
Foundation: 6-12 months
Foundations have a little longer of a shelf life than mascara. They can last anywhere from six to twelve months before needing to be replaced. Tell-tale signs of a foundation past it's use by day is a change in it's colour, separation of the formula, or again, an off smell.
Lipstick: 12-24 months
And even more, lipsticks have an even longer shelf life which is great for us with a huge love for them. An easy way of telling whether it's expired or not is by it's consistency. Lipsticks past their use by date will be dried up and become crumbly. The smell is also an easy way to tell as well.
So please, make sure you throw out expired makeup when you need to. Speaking first hand, the effects of it is not nice and I would well and truly rather avoid them.
I´ve killed SO many mascaras, can´t even tell haha.
