Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette vs Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette

Some would say that you don't need both Chocolate Bar Palettes from Too Faced. I disagree. I couldn't help myself but to pick up the second one, the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette. I mean honestly, how could I deny myself more chocolatey-smelling eye shadow goodness?

In today's post, I thought I would do a comparison of the two palettes as I bought the other over six months ago and haven't been able to put it down! I found the first palette to be so versatile, having colours for both simple and dramatic looks. See my review of the original here.

The packaging for the Semi-Sweet is still gorgeous and looks just like a chocolate bar. One difference is that it's a lighter brown shade than the original. They've also changed where they put the names of the shades. In the original, there was a clear plastic overlay that had all the names on it but with the Semi-Sweet, they've made it a lot easier for everyone and just printed the names under each shade on the actual palette. I know everyone seems to be a lot happier with this change.

I find the formula of the shades to pretty much be the same, pigmented, very blendable and easy to work with.. There is one shade in the Semi-Sweet that I really didn't like called Pink Sugar. It's literally just like chunky glitter with no pigment.

The colour range in both palettes is outstanding. I love that they included a matte black in the new palette as well. Each palette has a little pop of colour (purple in the original and blue in the Semi-Sweet) but mainly neutrals. The original palette is less warmed tone than the Semi-Sweet.

Do I regret buying both palettes? Absolutely not! I still find myself using both of them very regularly and not favouring one over the other. Which one do you prefer?
